A delegation from the ITCILO, representing among others the Supporting Initiative “Promotion of Decent Work in Situations of Fragility” and the project “Promoting rural youth employment in Afghanistan through Entrepreneurship Education and Vocational Training“, has joined the 4th World Forum on Local Economic Development which is taking place in Praia, Cape Verde, from 17 to 20 October 2017.
The ILO delegation, together with ITCILO colleagues, will animate the events on the theme “LED as a foundation for resilient and peaceful societies in fragile contexts”.
The Learning Agenda on “The importance of inclusive and participatory approach in conflict-sensitive scenarios” will highlight the Fragility Compass as an analytical tool to help make sense of the many layers of complexity in fragile situations. The Compass was developed by the ILO Fragile States and Disaster Response Group with the Graduate Institute’s Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding.
The experience gained in the first phase of the implementation of the project “Promoting rural youth employment in Afghanistan” will be presented in particular during the Interactive panels on “Bridging the humanitarian-development nexus through job creation for peacebuilding: area-based local economic recovery initiatives and the ILO Jobs for Peace and Resilience Programme” and on “The role of private sector in LED in fragile contexts”.
High level policy dialogues will also offer the opportunity to discuss the challenges of peace-building in conflict and post-conflict scenarios.
